Computerized Radiography - Digital Samples & Features
PetroChem offers a total integrated system of digital radiography that combines database management, film digitization, and filmless radiography using Computerized Radiography (CR). This system not only eliminates the costs associated with chemical maintenance, film storage, hazardous material handling, darkrooms, silver recovery, etc., but permits efficient handling of image and record databases. The database management feature also provides for the efficient transfer of information from one location to another.

PetroChem offers two types of systems for CReach with its own unique advantages. One system is manufactured by Agfa Corporation (RADView) and the other is Fuiji.
Both the filmless Computerized Radiography systems utilize a phosphor screen which, when exposed in the same manner as film, creates a latent image which is optically scanned, electronically measured, digitized, and stored in computer memory. The stored data is then processed by the workstation to render a viewable digital radiographic image displayed on a high resolution monitor. |
Once the images have been acquired, measurement of wall thinning from erosion/corrosion is much easier due to the digital nature of the system.
Image analysis functions include edge enhancement, smoothing, and annotation, as well as the ability to obtain line profiles from which wall thickness can be precisely and repeatedly measured. Comparisons made between film inspections for wall thickness and inspection using phosphor screens showed excellent results.
